During 1994-95, the Committee on Undergraduate Admissions and Financial Aid (C-UAFA) focused on two issues: early decision and enhanced yield. They formed a subcommittee to consider faculty recruitment of top students, and were able to support implementation of this program for the 1994-1995 admissions process. Each year they review statistics on the incoming classes. The preliminary profile for the current 1995 year is attached to this report.

Sophomore Seminars & Sophomore College

Sophomore College is an intensive two-week residential academic program, held just before the start of fall quarter, which is intended to facilitate the development of mentoring relationships between faculty and students; to provide a small group introduction to a particular field of study; and to introduce students to academic resources available to them at Stanford. Sophomore Seminars are small-group courses for second-year students designed to enhance their focus on a potential major and to encourage an ongoing spirit or mentorship between faculty and students.
